Coupaings V2 marked a complete overhaul of the server. With all Bedrock players transitioning to Java Edition, the constraints of cross-platform compatibility were eliminated. This opened the door for a wider range of plugins and, more importantly, the exciting world of mods!
With a growing player base but a persistent zero-budget limitation, Aternos remained the server host. To ensure everyone's voice was heard when choosing mods, a democratic system was implemented on the Discord server. Players could propose mods, upvote favorites, and discuss their choices. This transparent approach ensured inclusivity while maintaining technical compatibility and performance considerations for players with less powerful machines.
The initial launch of Coupaings V2 boasted a diverse selection of around 25 mods, with the "Create" mod taking center stage. This innovative mod allowed for creative contraption building, but it also demanded significant resources. The team acknowledged the potential performance impact, particularly for players with weaker systems, but the exciting possibilities offered by "Create" outweighed the drawbacks. A player pact was formed to ensure contraptions were deactivated when not in use, mitigating the performance burden.
In an effort to maintain gameplay variety, a second wave of around 15 mods was introduced, bringing the total to a staggering 40. This expansion, while well-intentioned, proved detrimental. The sheer number of mods, combined with player activity, overwhelmed the server's capabilities. This ultimately led to a decline in playability and the eventual closure of Coupaings V2.
